Portraits for Humans & Animal Companions

I’m one of those crazy people that gets along better with animals, so I love photographing the connection that we share with our pets. All of earth’s creatures have a good side and I want to learn yours too.

Reserve your session date with me below if you want images to cherish for a lifetime; moments of love, play and rest, plus anything too cute to keep for myself. Dogs and cats are frequent fliers, but rabbits, reptiles, horses and birds are beautiful family too.

Working with me is incredibly easy, from our first call to confirm all the way through to receiving your photos. I want every client to feel at ease with me behind the lens and able to be themselves to the fullest.

It's hard to tell shy pets or pretty much any cat what to do, so we'll get warmed up with their favorite treats and toys. Then the fun starts! After your photos will be delivered with a gallery link, where you can download, order physicals and share with ease.

River Arts District

Otherwise known as RAD, home to miles of paths along the French Broad River, art studios and installations. This area is located near New Belgium brewing and definitely a popular choice for all sessions. There's even places to dip our paws.

Carrier Park

Just up the road from RAD is Carrier Park. Here we have a bit more open space to play or lay. There are plenty of nooks and shady spots when the sun is shining. This is a great spot for all sessions and seasons.

Blue Ridge Parkway

My wife and I were fortunate enough to move near a BRP entrance so it became a frequent spot of our own too. We can drive higher up for panoramic views or stay more in town for some cozy wooded scenes.

HAYWOOD ROAD

Personally my favorite area of town, a thriving "Main Street" if I've ever seen one. Here we have an easy stroll along renowned food, breweries, artists and shops. Shoutout to @NiceTimeGlass.

Downtown Asheville

Explore downtown with me! Our walk here will meander through Packs Square, past the Asheville Art Museum and Orange Peel, finishing in a secret garden. Especially convenient for those already staying downtown, just step out of your lobby and I'll be there.

Uncommon Photography Locations

Max Patch

Located directly on the border of North Carolina and Tennessee, this location is a bit further flung but I promise it's worth it. Here we have it all: angelic backdrops of sky, sweeping views of Tennessee, trails and wooded nooks. This is perfect for Classic and Group sessions and honestly a romantic picnic.

Biltmore Forest

How can you talk about Asheville without mentioning Biltmore? Companions are not allowed in the house but who needs them and their chandeliers anyway. Here we have one of my favorite portrait views and long winding paths and creeks. Winnie the Pooh himself would be envious of this thousand-acre wood.

NC Arboretum

Located in the shadow of the blue ridge mountains, the Arboretum is home to incredible maintained trails and wooded scenery. Wear good shoes and plan on walking a little more than the others here but worth every step among these protected old growth trees and gardens.

Parking: $20 but free with Mini Sessions

Testimonials

Meredith

I was gifted a photo session with my senior pup, and it was such a good experience. Peter was very patient with our slow pace, and the photos turned out even better than I would have hoped! Highly recommend for anyone who wants to preserve some memories.

Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

How many total images?

There is a minimum number of perfect photos I guarantee in case of Murphy's Law. Each session has always received several more candid images. It's hard to guarantee any particular number of those.

Can I choose my images?

My photography is usually in varying natural light so I do not allow clients to choose from proofs, a process more common in studio photography. This may be an option one day. I do my best to not leave anything on the camera roll.

When can I expect the gallery?

Photo galleries are usually delivered in three or four weeks. I will let you know if anything changes.

What happens if there's inclement weather?

Being in the Appalachian temperate rainforest, late summer tends to be the most unpredictable. I offer free rescheduling due to inclement weather but some days all you need is a hat or a quick wait. The sun can come streaming back out beautifully (rainbows anyone?) so don't get discouraged too quickly by some clouds.
